Pop rock band designed as a mockery of the Beatles, with numerous hits throughout the sixties. Lead vocalist Davy Jones is of no relation to the phrase "Davy Jones' locker", but is British himself and helped the group sound like the Beatles. They had their own hit TV show whose theme song was also a hit, and mentioned "we're the young generation" to try to sound hip.
They were covered by nineties alternative rock band Smash Mouth, who also had a big hit with the song.
