British invasion band with numerous hits in the mid to late sixties. When first nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, they received enough votes to be inducted. However, some came late and therefore the group was not inducted. This caused controversy and the group was subsequently inducted the following year. The Hall used this excuse to induct Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, a group clearly not rock, instead, claiming "We couldn't go any longer without a rap act".
