Info[]
Queen is a phenomenal rock band with an enormous legacy. It is debated as to whether frontman Freddie Mercury was gay. Mercury died in the mid nineties of AIDS. Their song Bohemian Rhapsody was not an initial success, but became one after being featured in comedy film Wayne's World, which had been successful due to its being based on a popular sketch from latenight comedy show Saturday Night Live. Their song Under Pressure features David Bowie on supporting vocals, and was controversially sampled by rapper Vanilla Ice for his hit Ice Ice Baby. This resulted in a lawsuit which resulted in Mercury and Bowie receiving credit on the single. Their song Another One Bites the Dust samples Good Times by disco group Chic. The songs We Will Rock You and We are the Champions have become popular sports anthems. Most OTA stations play them back-to-back. Another One Bites the Dust was nearly chosen for the theme song to a Rocky film. Despite its name the album Jazz does not contain any jazz music.
