AC/DC is an Australian hard rock band having its origins in blues rock. Originally led by Bon Scott until he died in 1980. Scott was replaced by Brian Johnson. They refuse to refer to themselves as metal. The name was inspired by a label they saw on a sewing machine. Their "For Those About to Rock" was based on a quote expressed by Roman soldiers to Julius Caesar before they went off to combat. Modern hard rock band Airbourne takes heavy influence from AC/DC, and even originate in Australia themselves. Most of their albums have gone at least gold. Back in Black went double diamond. Their extended play '74 Jailbreak went platinum. Most of their live albums went platinum. Soundtrack album Who Made Who went five times platinum while Iron Man 2 went gold. Box set Bonfire went platinum. Numerous hit singles. Who Made Who video album went gold. Live at Donington went six times platinum. No Bull went five times platinum. Stiff Upper Lip Live went gold. Family Jewels went diamond. Plug Me In went five times platinum.
